Dear Community Partner, 

Canada has created a brand new Federal Mental Health Commission to address the stigma associated with mental illness and addiction, and we at Forward House are grateful that the time has come. We can no longer afford to wound and isolate our fellows.

By your side for more than twenty years, Forward House has long since taken proactive measures with our clients to promote wellness, self esteem, ability and contribution and to help our larger community understand their issues and triumphs; we are delighted to be part of this important initiative. We asked our client partners to name the most powerful antidote to the violence that it is stigma, and they told us: compassion. Therefore, we are launching our Campaign for Compassion, and we want you to be involved!

Over the next year, we are undertaking the following activities:

• Creative writing campaign centered on the compassion theme.
• Development of an education module for middle and high school students.
• Song writing.
• Call for video shorts about compassion, for public viewing.
• Production of a feature film about compassion.
• Appointment of ‘Compassion Ambassadors’ from among the education, health, business, politics, seniors, entertainment, service agency and other communities to award those people they see demonstrating compassion for person, animal or planet, toward looking for the good in others.
• A ‘speakers corner’ event at the beach in summer.
• More!.
