In the course of a single day we field numerous calls and personal inquiries from family members or generally concerned citizens about how to recognize a mental health or addiction crisis and how then to address it most effectively. With due respect for the writers of the wealth of information that is available to anyone wishing to learn, knowing where to access it can evidently be somewhat problematic. Because literally any one of us might be first to come upon a critical situation, our partners decided to prepare a one-stop guide. It is called Information for First Responders in Mental Health and Addiction Crises and it available free of charge to all those who wish to be informed. Adopted for use by the Red Cross, BC Ambulance Society, Royal Life Saving Society, and B.C. Search and Rescue Association as well as other agencies and individuals, we believe it will help to mitigate stigma through knowledge and preserve the safety and dignity of all those affected by the conditions discussed. Now, it is available for download. First Responders.pdf We thank you for your interest. |
